Enrichment Classes

summer Classes
Toy Take Apart Workshop
Saturdays, 9:00-10:00, ages 4-7
The cost is $96 for the summer, July 13-August 3

This summer we will deconstruct electronic toys to learn more about how they work. We start by considering the whole system and hypothesizing about what we might find inside (batteries, wires, speakers, motors?). What does the toy do? So, what parts might enable the system to do things? Then we tear the toy apart! Deconstructing the toy is an exciting part of the project and will allow us to think carefully about each individual part and how it contributes to the system as a whole. Through these explorations we will learn more about circuits, electricity, conductivity, motors and more.

Toy Inventor's Workshop
Thursdays at two times, 3:00-4:00 (ages 3.5-5 years) and 4:15-5:15pm (ages 6-8 years)
The cost is $124 for the summer, July 11-August 8

This summer, we will become toy inventors! We will make spinning, launching and racing toys while exploring force, potential and kinetic energy, and simple machines. The scientists will have lots of opportunity to solve problems and be creative. If the scientists are interested, we may also extend our explorations to include chain reactions and Rube Goldberg machines. It's going to be a lot of fun!
